Employee laid off at 3 am after more than 16 years with Google: "Unexpected after hard work"

Justin Moore, an Engineering Manager in Google, described the time he spent with the tech giant as ‘largely wonderful.’

Is isn't so painful to work for company around more than 10 years with full responsibility, and in return you got laid off.

Google being an big Tech Giant it wasn't expected but due to flow of trend ( i.e. fear of future recession) & also due to decline in sale for some companies, every big companies are preventing by laying off.

‘Big, faceless’ companies such as Google see employees as ‘100% disposable,’ said an Engineering Manager at the tech giant, who saId he is among the 12,000 employees who are being let go by Alphabet Inc, the parent company of the Mountain View-headquartered firm.

“So after over 16.5 years at Google, I appear to have been let go via an automated account deactivation at 3am this morning as one of the lucky 12,000. I don't have any other information, as I haven't received any of the other communications the boilerplate ‘you’ve been let go' website (which I now also can't access) said I should receive,” wrote Moore on LinkedIn,

He additionally wrote, “This also just drives home that work is not your life, and employers – especially big, faceless ones like Google – see you as 100% disposable. Live life, not work,”

Right Now, to reduce such an huge amount of employees from its global workforce, will also impact on work in the company.

For Google as per my thinking, Open AI also an other Tech company to become an Tech Giant after its launch of Chat bot i.e. Chat GPT , the whole Percepective of viewing Ai is changed.

Google who is trying to make an Best Ai but isn't getting good response from AI in terms of not being racist. As per report Google and many tech giant after finding response from AI it seems to be that AI is still on the whole human mind which doesn't know whether to speak or not in terms of social talk.

So, May be Google might need more and more good engineers for help to comeup and face such a good competitor (OpenAI).

But they have already cutoff experienced employees of their company. There are good employees in Google right now, But more brains may help to take out of single brain (In terms of making good idea out of majority).

From all above we can conclude that from Google side they are going with flow in terms of fear of Future Recession.

And for Employees perspective, Even though Sundar Pichai after taking whole responsibility for layoff on himself "says sorry" and apologies to employees. But it will take time for managers and employees to recover as to be experienced in good giant company doesn't lead to layoff.
